Education

Janice has two children who are a product of the public school system, she believes wholeheartedly in supporting our teachers and our children. In addition to volunteering at her children’s schools, Janice has worked since 2005 to promote school choice, first in Diamond Bar and then in Orange County.

After two years of being the president of the parent teacher organization, similarly, known as a PTA, she started the technology program, bringing into her school 48 Apple computers and 36 iPads. She later started the Diamond Bar Educational Round Table bringing together two districts’ administration, principals, and teachers and working with local legislators giving families the opportunity for district of choice.

After her move to Orange County, she started the Pomona Unified Partners in Learning a 501(c)(3).  She built two science centers and a summer intervention program, helping at-risk children with the chance to build reading, math and writing skills at what is now known as “Camp Imagination.”  This served over 150 children during the summer and opened the libraries for other family members including adults.

In Yorba Linda, she continued her work in education through the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District. Janice served as a member of the Superintendent Advisory Committee, as a PTA member, and as a committee member for the Reach Foundation.  Currently, she serves as the president of both the cross country and track and field booster clubs.  In 2018, she worked with the school administration to create an elective for the Science Olympiad at Kraemer Middle School. After starting the program, Janice served as their Coordinator, hosting the largest National Science Olympiad event featuring 45 school teams, totaling over 1,300 participants.

She has continued to be a dedicated volunteer, and recently, she helped secure over $600,000 in federal and local funding for the at-risk community in Placentia last year alone.
